Client Impressions

Each painting holds a story – of a home, a beloved companion, or a moment in time.  Here are a few reflections from those who have invited these pieces into their lives.

“I feel fortunate to own a painting of a heron Stephanie painted several years ago.  It makes you feel like you are right there with the bird, standing alongside the creature with its tall legs and stoic presence.  I often find myself staring at the painting, wondering about the bird.  Is it searching for food, perhaps the bird has spotted prey?  Stephanie has such talent.  She brings her subjects to life.  I love that heron.”

“After our dog died, Stephanie painted an amazing portrait that has become a special memory for us. I gave Stephanie photographs of ‘Bear’ and asked her to place him in his favorite spot by the French doors leading to our patio. She accommodated our every wish and made certain all the details were done exquisitely — even down to the flowers in the planters on the patio. We now have a treasure that hangs in our living room to enjoy every day.”

“After 30 years living in Arlington, my husband and I decided to sell our house and move to South Carolina. As you can imagine, it was a mixed bag of joy and hope, combined with the sadness of leaving old friends.

I asked Stephanie to do a painting for me to memorialize our time in Virginia. Not a rendering of a house, but a portrait of our home, the neighborhood, the surroundings. I wanted her to capture the warm feelings that we’d shared for so many years. I left the details up to her as to how she would proceed.  I was not disappointed.

The painting she created captures all of that and more.   My house, her house, the moonlight, the starry sky, the shadows across the snowy yard - it is all perfect. I have hung it in my kitchen where I enjoy it everyday.  It’s a joyful reminder of old friends while adjusting to the new.”

“Years ago, searching for a Christmas gift for my difficult-to-buy for husband,  I asked Stephanie to paint a picture of our family home.  The result was an unqualified success and reminds me and my family of the place we raised our children and carried on through those busy family years.

Later, I asked her to paint a portrait of my daughter’s beloved dog, a favorite hiking place along the Potomac River, and several birds and flowers from my garden.  Each one is precious to me and evokes so many wonderful memories.  Her paintings are so personal and bring memories in unexpected ways.”
